Gonzales, LA - Whitney Lawrence Geter, III, 81 years old, a resident of Gonzales, former longtime resident of Denham Springs, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. Whitney grew up in Baton Rouge before joining the Army and serving for 21 years. He is a 2 term Vietnam Veteran. On January 27, 1967, Whitney married the love of his life, Rhonda Perault. Whitney and Rhonda went on to have 4 children. He loved the Lord faithfully and was a devoted Christian. Whitney inspired many people with his faith, positive attitude and charity. He loved his family tremendously and will be missed by all. Whitney was an avid gamer and loved to play Xbox and care for all kinds of animals. Whitney is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rhonda Geter; children Wendi Allee (Stacy), Renee Cryer (Damon), Sherry LaJaunie (James), and Whitney Geter, IV (Sarah). He is also survived by grandchildren Amanda Templet, Stephanie Allee, Jeremiah Allee, Sarah A. Nunez, Stacey Allee, Elijah Allee, Bradley Gauthier, Matthew Cryer, Rachel Cryer, Victoria Herrmann, Andrew Geter, Tony LaJaunie, Levi Geter, Lilah Geter and Hudson Geter; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Nunez, Cohen Allee, Eva Hazlewood, Jackson Hazlewood, Camille Allee, Remington Gauthier, Archer Gauthier, Roux Gauthier, and Alice Herrmann; and his sister Barbara Woods (Sammy). Whitney was preceded in death by his parents, Whitney Geter II and Pearlie Mae Davidson Geter as well as siblings John Geter and Joanna Munson. Visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 865 Hatchell Ln, Denham Springs, LA 70726, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial & reception will follow at Resthaven Garden of Memory in Baton Rouge. Pallbearers will be Bradley Gauthier, Matthew Cryer, Andrew Geter, Jeremiah Allee, Elijah Allee and Chris Hull. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to his favorite charity, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Whitney's name.
