Theresa Hawkins Mims-Julien Obituary

Baton Rouge, LA - Theresa Angelee Hawkins Mims-Julien, 85, a devoted mother, educator, and faithful servant, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Carpenter House Hospice in Baton Rouge, LA. She was born on September 6, 1939, in Maringouin, LA, to the late Annie B. and Louis Burnett Hawkins, Sr.

A lifelong member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, she served as a CCE Instructor and Eucharistic Minister, known for her unwavering faith and daily devotion to the rosary.

Theresa graduated from Thomas A. Levy High School in 1958 and earned both bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Southern University. She touched countless lives through decades of teaching at various schools in Pointe Coupee, Iberville, and East Baton Rouge Parishes.

She served 65 years with the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary, St. Aubry Court 119, in multiple leadership roles, and was a member of the Constance Butler Chapter No. 9, Ladies of Grace. She was honored with the Silver Medal of Honor for her outstanding contributions.

Theresa is survived by her sons, Ronnie Jerome Hawkins and Reuben Sanford Mims (Josephine); siblings Leroy Frazier, Louis "B.J." Hawkins (Tobin), Virginia Hawkins, and Daisy Hawkins-Thomas (Robert); grandchildren, great-grandchildren, godchildren, and a host of loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Samual "Jack" Mims and Raymond Julien, and sisters Mary Ann Hawkins Oliver and Edna Mae Hawkins.

The family extends sincere thanks to Iberville Parish Medical Transport, Council on Aging, Fresenius Kidney Care, and Carpenter House for their care. Theresa's legacy of faith, love, and education will be cherished forever.
