Baton Rouge, Louisiana - Sharon D. Holder passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 26, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on December 24, 1945, to the late Loyd and Paula Rockhold. Throughout her 80 years, Sharon dedicated her life to caring for her family, her friends, and her community.

She is survived by her six children, Matthew, Samantha, Jennifer, Jeremy, Adam, and Lacey; 13 cherished grandchildren; three adored great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Jan, Gloria, and Meli. She also leaves behind countless friends whose lives were forever enriched by her generosity, compassion, and unwavering loyalty.

Sharon's path to serving others was anything but conventional. She began her studies at LSU in 1964, spent several years working at the Exxon Chemical Plant, and ultimately found her calling in healthcare. Sharon then earned her Nurse Practitioner degree and certification from Southeastern Louisiana University. Caring for others was more than a profession—it was her life's purpose. Whether comforting a patient, encouraging a friend, or helping someone through a difficult season, Sharon gave of herself freely, with extraordinary compassion and grace.

Her generosity extended well beyond her career. Sharon was deeply involved in numerous charitable organizations, giving tirelessly of her time, talents, energy, and resources. She believed helping others wasn't something reserved for convenient moments—it was simply the right thing to do.

When she wasn't caring for others, Sharon found joy in creating. She loved beading, quilting, and sewing, surrounding herself with an ever-growing circle of family and friends who shared her passion for crafting. She could happily spend hours wandering through a fabric store, always imagining her next project. Many family members, friends, and charitable organizations were blessed with her beautifully handcrafted quilts, each one made with love and care. She also left behind enough fabric, beads, and quilting supplies to keep several craft stores in business for years to come.

Sharon will be remembered not only for her kindness and selflessness, but also for the little things that made her uniquely herself: her steadfast avoidance of anything spicy, her creative use of kitchen utensils to keep everyone in line, and her complete confidence that if you simply followed her instructions, everything would work out just fine.

While our hearts are heavy with her loss, we are profoundly grateful for the years we shared with her. Sharon was a remarkable woman, a devoted mother, a treasured grandmother, a faithful sister, and a loyal friend. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through her love, generosity, and quiet acts of service. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life beautifully lived and a woman whose kindness made the world a better place.
