Baton Rouge, LA - Frederick Russell "Rusty" Landry, age 71, passed away on August 7, 2026. Born on December 28, 1954, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Rusty lived his life with a quiet strength, a gentle spirit, and an unwavering love for his family.

Rusty began his career as a machinist shortly after graduating from high school. He later continued his education at Louisiana State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Exceptionally intelligent yet remarkably humble, Rusty never sought recognition or attention for his accomplishments. That quiet humility was simply part of who he was.

Rusty was an avid hunter and fisherman who found great joy in the outdoors. He loved sports of all kinds, but LSU football and baseball held a special place in his heart. He was also a devoted fantasy football fan and looked forward to the competition and camaraderie it brought.

Those who knew Rusty will remember his subtle sense of humor and his gentle, quiet demeanor. He was a private man who never needed to be the center of attention, yet his presence left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him. He cared for people with his whole heart and consistently placed the needs of others before his own. He was selfless, kind, humble, and deeply devoted to the people he loved.

Above all else, Rusty loved his family more than life itself. His gentle spirit and the quiet ways in which he showed his love will remain with them always. He was deeply loved in return, and his absence will be felt beyond measure.

Rusty was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Delma Landry and Irene Chiasson Landry; his brother, Joseph "Boo" Landry; and his sisters, Geraldine "Gerry" Landry, Gwendolyn "Gwen" Landry Trabeaux, and Janice Landry Bellue. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Sonny Trabeaux.

He leaves behind his nieces and nephews, Denise Kirk (Chuck), Deanna Mims (David), Dianna Cox (Ron), Robbye Keown (Jim), Tonya Landry (Anne Marie), Kandie Distefano (Donnie), Kim Bergeron, Lee Bellue (Amy), Dawn Doucet (Darryn), Dana Dugas (Dwayne), and Donna Moye, along with extended family and friends who loved him dearly.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to St. Joseph Hospice and The Carpenter House for the compassionate care and support they provided to Rusty and his family.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with burial immediately following at Resthaven Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lee Bellue, Donnie Distefano, Darren Doucet, Dwayne Dugas, Kyle Kurk, Dylan Doucet, Luke Bellue, Bryce Distefano, and Brandon Bergeron. Honorary pallbearer will be Barry Bellue, Sr.

Rusty lived quietly, loved deeply, gave selflessly, and asked for little in return. His was a gentle life that left a lasting mark, and he will be forever loved and deeply missed.
