Baton Rouge, La - Rose Gibson Ellzey passed away peacefully after a long battle with dementia on August 8, 2026. Rose was born on January 27,1939 in Harrisonburg, Louisiana to the late David Wana and Olive Gibson. Rose graduated from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA with a degree in Education. She was a devoted mother who loved the outdoors, especially fishing with her good friends on False River and hiking in the mountains of Colorado. You could also find her watching sunsets on Navarre Beach along with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Rose is survived by her son's Ken Ellzey, Jr. (Marilyn), David Ellzey, daughter Katherine Wilkinson (Horace) and four grandchildren; Grant Wilkinson, Grace Wilkinson, Gibson Ellzey and Haynes Ellzey. She is also survived by her sister Evelyn McDonald (Wayne) of Greenville, SC and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by her sisters Dr. Wana Ann Fort, Marjorie Sharp, Jane Noonan, Polly Hamilton and Lee Mills.

We would like to thank Barclay House of Baton Rouge, Clarity Hospice and Tori Baker for the exceptional love and care they provided.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
