Baton Rouge, Louisiana - Our brother, Robert, worked for the Alliance House Drop-In Center as a director and as a computer consultant. He once testified before the U.S congress as an advocate for the mentally ill. He enjoyed playing chess for many years and was quite successful having won tournaments.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Emmett McManus, Jr. and his mother, Frances Stewart McManus; grandparents: Robert Emmett and Juno Gardner McManus Sr., John Tyler and Inez Stewart and by several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his siblings and their spouses Frances An and Laury Porter, Walter and Anne McManus and Cathy McManus and John Wilkinson and by several nieces and nephews, spouses and children: Roxane Despain-Frampton and Brian Scott Despain, Eliza and Katie McManus (Ezra and Juno) Anson and Elizabeth McManus, Devan Wilkinson Reimonenq and Gary Reimonenq, Jr. (Orion and Varick), and Loren Wilkinson and Joshua Key (Rowyn Key).
Deborah Adams was his good friend and housemate of many years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge at 8470 Goodwood Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70806.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alliance House or to the Louisiana Mental Health Association.
