Rev. Kenneth D. Norton (Reverend Kenneth) Obituary

Bossier City, Louisiana - Reverend Kenneth D. Norton, 87, of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.

Born on September 1, 1938, to the late William B. Norton and Maggie S. Norton, Kenneth dedicated his life to faith, family, and community. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kenanne Dooley, and three siblings.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn Rech Norton; and former wife Ann Norton Ogden of Baton Rouge; his children, Russell Norton, Tom Dooley, and Shawn Cranford; and his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.

Kenneth served as a minister for the United Methodist Church, where his charisma, humor, and compassion touched countless lives. He was also a dedicated Al-Anon facilitator, a proud member of the Bossier City Lions Club, and a former member of the Baton Rouge JC's. A regular at the Friday coffee group at Rhino Coffee Shop, Kenneth treasured friendship and connection in every setting.

Beyond his service, Kenneth was a man of many passions. He loved cheering on LSU football and baseball, traveling, and sharing laughter and stories wherever he went. Known affectionately as Santa to his grandchildren and his church community, he brought magic and joy to those around him. He was especially fond of "viddles," with a special love for Lee's pecan pie and shrimp in any form.

Kenneth was charismatic, quick-witted, and endlessly kind-hearted. He never met a stranger and was always the brightest light in the room, ensuring that by the end of the evening, he knew everyone personally.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Bossier City. Officiating: Rev. Miles Holladay and Rev. Donnie Wilkinson.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at

Willis-Knighton, the compassionate team at Bristol Hospice, and the staff and residents at The Bloom for their care and kindness.

He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
