Simpson, Louisiana - Norwyn was born on November 4, 1943 in Lytham St Annes, England to Horace Calvin Johnson and Irene McGrath Johnson. He passed away on April 29, 2026 at his beloved family farm in Simpson, Louisiana. He graduated from Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Louisiana State University and Tulane University and also served in the Unites States Army during the Vietnam War. After a long career with the United States Army Corps of Engineers and the Louisiana Coastal Restoration Authority, he retired and settled to live in Kirkland, Washington with his wife Lynda Johnson.

Norwyn will be missed every minute of every day. God was gracious to bring him home painlessly from the place he so dearly loved, his family farm in Simpson, Louisiana. He took great pride in his family and spent the last five years enjoying his grandchildren, birding and exploring Washington and the Pacific Northwest. He was a lifelong sports fan and enjoyed following the LSU and University of Virginia sports teams.

He is preceded in death by his parents Horace Johnson and Irene Johnson and his brother Larry Johnson.

He is survived by his wife Lynda Johnson; brother Donald Johnson, children Shane Johnson (Jen), Laurel Bennett (Tony) and Ryan Purcell; grandchildren Trevor Hatley, Anna Bennett, Eli Bennett, Briana Johnson, Shana Johnson, Hunter Purcell and Addison Purcell. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family held a private wake on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
