Baton Rouge, LA - Nancy Estelle (Skidmore) Virga, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, April 02, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born in Winchester, Tennessee on October 18, 1934, to Ben and Hilda Skidmore. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family. She was a devout Catholic who loved volunteering at St. Joseph's Cathedral, the Baton Rouge Food Pantry, and The Battered Women's Shelter. She was an animal lover who spent many years volunteering at the Baton Rouge Zoo and always had rescue animals around the house. She loved reading, travelling, and hosting social functions. Nancy attended Louisiana State University, where she met her husband of 68 years, Mickey Virga. She graduated in 1956 and spent many years as a substitute teacher in East Baton Rouge. She had two children, Paige Raleigh & Paul Virga, and fostered several foreign children in their time of need. She loved spending time spoiling her children & grandchildren. She was always planning vacations to share her love of travel with her family. She loved hosting parties and spending time with her friends at Bocage Racquet Club. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ben Sr. & Hilda; her husband, Mickey Virga; and her daughter, Paige Raleigh. She is survived by her brother, Ben Skidmore, Jr.; son, Paul Virga; son-in-law, Coleman Raleigh; her grandchildren, Brian Raleigh (Adam Gilbert) and Chris Raleigh (Mallory); and her three great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Madison and William Raleigh. Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., in Baton Rouge on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until services at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
