Baton Rouge, Louisiana - Baton Rouge, LA - Marie Merle Tabary Chabreck, a longtime resident of
Baton Rouge, Lousiana, departed this earth on Thursday, November 6, 2025,
at the age of 91. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana where she was a
graduate of St. Joseph's Academy. She was the daughter of the late Fernand
Joseph and Willie Louise Cox Tabary. She leaves behind to cherish her
memory her sons, David Chabreck (Michele), James Chabreck (Leigh),
Thomas Chabreck (Ruth), daughter, Brenda Chabreck Gardner (Rick), her
brother-in-law, Pete Jabbia, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband,
Dr. Robert Chabreck, her brother, Fernand Tabary, Jr. and sisters, Estelle Raymond, Marie Lynch, Rosemary Touzet and Claire Chabreck. Merle was a devout parishioner of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baton Rouge where she served many years on the Altar Society. Merle enjoyed reading and was a long time member of Skimmer Bookclub. She was also member of the
Campus Club at Louisiana State University. Merle had a sweet tooth and a sweeter spirit, and her kitchen always smelled of roux. She was always
dressed to the nines with her hair just right and anyone who knew her loved
her. The family would like to thank Hospice of Baton Rouge and Fidelis Care Group for their wonderful, compassionate care of Merle. Services will be held at a later date.
