Baton Rouge, Louisiana - Marvin Michael "Mickey" Christensen died on Saturday, October 11 in Baton Rouge at the age of 86. He was born on September 9, 1939 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Marvin Virgual Christensen and Olga Kauss Christensen. The family moved from Omaha to Amite, Louisiana in 1941, later moved to Pontchatoula and then to Baton Rouge in 1954. Mickey was a 1957 graduate of Istrouma High School. He graduated from LSU in 1961 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He returned to LSU in 1963 and earned his Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1965 and went to work at Dow Chemical in Plaquemine. He retired from Dow in 1993 and established TQM Systems consulting. He and his son, Mike, established Ornamental Pond Fish in Port Allen in 2000. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Dow Retirees, and Baton Rouge Round Table.

He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Jane Tucker Christensen, son Joseph Michael "Mike" Christensen, his wife, Catherine Caughman Christensen, and grandson, Dane Alexander Christensen.

A memorial service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, 401 N. Fourth St., Baton Rouge on Thursday, October 16. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and the service will begin at 11:00 AM. Please wear colors to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James Episcopal Church.
