Kay leaves to cherish precious memories, her husband, John Larry Brue, Sr., her sons; John Brue, Jr. (Yolanda), Jonathan Brue, Sr. (Yasmine); eight grandchildren: Jeremiah, Jacobe, Darylnessia, Janai, Jonathan, Jr. (J.B.), Ja'Nyla, De'Vontae and Kentrell; two siblings, Lionel Scott, Sr (Shirley)and Jean McKneely (L'Jean); sisters-in-law, Shirley Patterson Scott, Helen Brue-Millsap, Diane Brue-Neal; brothers-in-law, Henry, Alvin and Horace Brue; her aunt, Azale Profit and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Bennett and Mattie Odds Scott; her brothers: Claude, Harry, Leo, Ledell and Herman Scott; sisters: Velma Augustus, Louise Sanders, Doretha Williams and Naomi Payne.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Greater Beach Grove Baptist Church, 5352 Ford Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70811. Pastor Reno M. L. Spurlock, Sr, officiating. Family will receive friends from 10-10:45 a.m.

Interment at Southern Memorial Gardens, 3012 Blount Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70807.
