Baton Rouge, Louisiana - Lawrence Shelby "Larry" Womack, cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the age of 85. Larry was born on March 12, 1940, in Independence, Louisiana, son of the late Agnes S. Womack. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Navy before embarking on a successful career in construction. In 1979, Larry founded his own construction company, L.S. Womack Inc., where he worked with dedication and integrity for over 40 years, until his well-deserved retirement in 2020. Larry was also a proud member of the Pipefitter Local 198, known for his unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Sonya S. Womack; son, Scott Womack; grandson, Ridge Womack; sisters, Jewell Falcon and Doris Smith; and brother, Keith Womack. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Baton Rouge for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time. The family would like to invite all who knew and loved Larry to join them as we commemorate his life. A visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge in Larry's name.
