Vacherie, Louisiana - Laura Lee Waguespack Schexnayder, a native and resident of Vacherie, Louisiana, born on June 30, 1936, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the age of 90.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Arnold J. Schexnayder, Sr., her parents James A. and Yvonne Folse Waguespack; in-laws Claude J. Sr. and Simone Webre Schexnayder; brothers, Ronald Waguespack, Warren Waguespack and wife, Mary; brothers-in-law, Arthur Schexnayder and wife, Carolyn; Gerald Schexnayder; Claude Schexnayder, Jr.; sister-in-law, Joyce S. Steib and husband, Marion, Sr.; and 3 infant grandsons, Max and Marc Schexnayder and Gerard Cazenave.

Laura is survived by her children, Arnold J. Schexnayder, Jr. (Karen V.); Marcia S. Waguespack (Brian); Andrea S. Cazenave (Daryl); and Yvonne S. Cortez (Tulsa); grandchildren, Kelsey S. Pasch (Austin); Ben Schexnayder, Dana W. St. Pierre (Matt); John Waguespack (Emily L.); Kandis Cazenave and fiancé, Alex Kellems; Connor Cazenave; Colin Cortez (Maddi B.); and Caleb Cortez and fiancé, Ali Rodriguez. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, June Pasch, Kaylee and Katelyn St. Pierre, and Laura, Eden, and Sarah Waguespack.

She is also survived by her sister, Lilly Mae W. Perque (Roland); sisters-in-law, Emily R. Waguespack, Janel Schexnayder, and Joyce Anne Schexnayder; and brother-in-law, Godfred Schexnayder (Cathy).

Laura was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family and raised them in the Catholic faith and was proud of them all. She was a faithful adorer at Our Lady of Peace Adoration Chapel. She was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed cooking meals for the family on Sundays.

Laura will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her until we meet her again in her heavenly home.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. until mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Vacherie with interment following at Our Lady of Peace Mausoleum.
