Baton Rouge, LA - Kim Carr, age 68, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Born on September 3, 1957, in Petersburg, Virginia, Kim was a bright light who truly loved life to the fullest. She possessed a warm, generous spirit and a contagious smile that could melt your heart and soul instantly. A self-described "Disney Adult" and child at heart, Kim found joy in the simple things, including the company of her beloved pet cats and fur babies, Zippy and Zoey. Her faith and community were central to her life. Kim was a deeply devoted member of Newsong Community Church in Prairieville, Louisiana, where she cherished her church family and served faithfully as a youth program leader. She left a lasting impact on everyone she met, and her warmth shined bright in her community. Kim was the unwavering backbone of her family, standing by her children at every turn. She is survived by her loving husband, David Carr of Baton Rouge, LA; her son, Stephen Carr (Christina) of Ooltewah, TN; her daughter, Grace Carr of West Hollywood, CA; her sisters, Kathy Rivers of Wichita, KS, and Karen Watkins of Jarreau, LA; and her brother, Billy Watkins (Blanche) of Williamsburg, VA. She was a deeply proud grandmother to her five grandsons—Trey, Scott, Gabriel, Christian, and Lucas Carr of Ooltewah, TN—who affectionately called her "Greya" and were truly her heart and soul. She was preceded in death by her father, William (Bill) Watkins; her mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Watkins; her brother, Johnny Watkins; and her nephews, Tori Watkins and Aaron Rivers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 10:00AM-10:45AM at Newsong Community Church, located at 18465 Old Perkins Rd, Prairieville, LA 70769. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00AM. Pastor Dustin Cole will be officiating the Celebration of Life. In honor of Kim's dedicated service and love for her faith community, memorial contributions may be made to the Newsong Community Church youth program.
