Denham Springs, Louisiana - Kenneth "Ken" Andrew Lavespere, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at his home in Denham Springs.

He was born January 29, 1943, in Cloutierville, Louisiana, to Felix Andrew Lavespere and Madonna Rachal Lavespere. He was raised there with deep love and devotion by his beloved aunt, Etta Dell Cannon ("Aunt Dell"). He was also deeply cherished by his mother, Madonna, and his stepfather, William "Bill" Rachal, who were married for over 50 years.

Coming from humble beginnings, Ken learned the value of hard work early in life. Through pure grit and determination, he worked three jobs to put himself through college, covering his own tuition, room and board, to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Northwestern State University. After graduation, he made his way to Baton Rouge to begin his professional life, starting a 35-year career at Louisiana State University. While working full-time for the university, he earned his Master's degree and went on to spend many rewarding years in collegiate athletics, ultimately retiring as the Assistant Athletic Director.

A die-hard Tiger fan, Ken loved all LSU sports, but nothing held a candle to tailgating and the excitement of Saturday nights in Death Valley for LSU football. An avid sportsman and talented cook, Ken found joy in reading, hunting, fishing, and barbecue. He truly loved to entertain - with a warm smile, a genuine sense of humor, and a knack for making people laugh. He always had a story to tell and a natural ability to bring people together around good food, leaving memories his friends and family will treasure forever. He will be missed but never forgotten.

Ken is survived by his wife, Boyu Fan, and his stepson, Jingxu "Jimmy" Lan.

His legacy lives on through his sons and their families, including son, Robbie Dean Lavespere (Denni Tweedy) and his children: Robbie Lavespere, Macey Allement (John Allement), Laird Lavespere, Eli Lavespere, Ethan Lavespere, and Kenneth Lavespere; and his son Kenneth Andrew "Andy" Lavespere Jr. and his children: Colt Lavespere, Cross Lavespere, and Crew Lavespere; whom he raised alongside their mother, Mary Margaret James - with whom he maintained a lifelong bond of warmth, affection, and friendship:

He was also the proud great-grandfather of Lillie Allement, Lucy Allement, John Allement, and Lorrie Allement. Ken is also survived by his sister, Patsy Bessonett, and his brothers, Greg Rachal and Delbert Rachal.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Felix Lavespere and Madonna Rachal; his stepfather, William Rachal; and his beloved Aunt Dell, who raised him.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Ken's life with a service to be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Following the service, Ken will be laid to rest at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery in his birthplace of Cloutierville, Louisiana.
