Baton Rouge, LA - Katrina Widas Demoruelle passed away on June 23, 2026, at the age of 74 after a brief illness. The world lost a generous and loving heart.

She was born on October 31, 1951, in Hammond, LA to loving parents, Charles Edward Widas, of Foxworth, MS and Sarah Ruth Patterson Widas, of Red Bay, AL.

She grew up in Baton Rouge and also spent formative years in Beirut, Lebanon where she learned to appreciate and love other peoples and cultures. She was a teacher's aide for a time where she was able to interact with third graders. Children and babies, and even images of them, always brought her joy. Conversely, the sight of suffering caused deep heartache.

Katrina took pleasure in being around family and friends sharing books, movies, and stories. After retirement from the Postal Service, she enjoyed being home surrounded by her collectables and family pictures.

Katrina enjoyed shopping for the perfect gift. Nothing gave her more joy than to see a granddaughter delighting in a Christmas or birthday present. She had an appreciation for the arts and artists. She was in awe of the intricacies of the natural world and the mysteries of the Universe.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, John Louis Demoruelle, of Ville Platte, LA, her sons, Jean-Paul Demoruelle of St. George and Joshua Widas Demoruelle and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Vicknair, and their daughters, Colette and Tess of Prairieville. Her sister Dee Widas Paille and brother-in-law, Mark Paille, of Santa Rosa Beach, FL and sister, Jane Widas of Baton Rouge, LA. The rest of her family and friends cherish her memory.

Services will be private.
