Baton Rouge, LA - Katherine "Kathy" Brown Melancon passed peacefully on Friday, August 1, 2025 at the age of 78. She was born on June 25, 1947 in Baton Rouge. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a devoted Fan of the LSU Tigers, had a strong love of gardening, and was known for her strength and Catholic faith.

We will miss her stories and history lessons.

She is preceded in death by her parents William and Elizabeth Doyle Brown; aunt Evelyn Brown McDonald; brother Glenn Brown; and son Christopher "Chris" Brecheen.

She is survived by her sons; Marcus "Scotty" Barrett and Donald Melancon Jr (Amber); daughter Chelsea Melancon (Daron); sister Carolyn Strong (Roy); brother David Brown (Carolyn); grandchildren Bradley Brecheen, Christopher "CJ" Brecheen Caroline Melancon, Katelynn Jenkins (Brennan) Ashleigh Alexander, Colby Melancon, Ashlynn Melancon, Carson Rodrigue, Calleigh Duplessis, Eli Melancon, Ethan Melancon, and Dylan Galloway; and great-grandchildren Noahh, Kaylee, Hayden, Allison, Zyrah, Jude and Kaylea. Numerous nieces and nephews cousins and friends.

A very special, thanks to Heritage Manor of Baton Rouge and Life Source hospice for taking such good care of her at the end of her life.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
