Karen Lamy Puckett Obituary

St. Francisville, LA - Karen Lamy Puckett, a resident of St. Francisville, LA passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family after a short but graceful battle with brain cancer on March 12, 2026 at the age of 69. She was a native of Baton Rouge, born on September 14, 1956 to Edward Theodore Lamy Jr. and Jimmy Lucille Lamy, the second of nine children. Karen attended St. George elementary and was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy. She graduated from Baton Rouge School of Business, had numerous jobs in the private sector, and gave 30 years of service to the State of Louisiana where she retired as the director of the Comprehensive Public Training Program, teaching leadership skills and professional advancement to countless employees. She and her husband of 43 years, Don, moved to St. Francisville in 1985 where they built their home and raised their children. They settled into the parish, joining Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, where Karen served as a lector as well as performed other administrative and auxiliary duties for the church. She lived her life ever in service of her family and friends. A devoted wife, a mother whose love and support for her children was boundless and unconditional and a grandmother whose joy and love for her grandchildren could not be contained. She was also a daughter, sister, an aunt, a godmother, a sister-in- law, a niece, a best friend, and a neighbor. Her passions throughout her life included photography, birdwatching, hiking and camping trips in the mountains, pressing flowers, cooking, crosswords, reading, pickleball, and maybe most importantly time spent with family and friends. She was the embodiment of selflessness and grace throughout her life. Her strength was quiet, but unwavering and undeniable. Even in the face of her diagnosis and illness, she remained strong and brave and full of faith. She left us all too soon, but God called her home. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Jimmy Lamy, and her son Adam Joseph Puckett. She is survived by her husband, Don Puckett, children Erin Puckett, Lauren Hartwig (Greg), Alyssa Robicheaux (Luke), and Benjamin Puckett, as well as her 6 grandchildren, Noah Puckett, Eli Puckett, Jane Francis Robicheaux, Jude Robicheaux, Poppy Hartwig and Lucille Robicheaux; siblings Cynthia Losavio (Steve), Lisa Dawson (David), Allyson Lamy, Eileen Stradley (Paul), Eddie Lamy (Janice), Laura Machado (Abel), Jimmy Lamy (Julie), and Celeste Thornhill (Mike).
