Joseph Ramie DeLatte Sr. Obituary

Garland, Texas - Joseph Ramie DeLatte, Sr. passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion to his family. He was born on May 1, 1931, in Livonia, Louisiana, to John Leon DeLatte and Virginia St. Romain DeLatte.

Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, enlisting in June of 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant before being honorably discharged on June 15, 1951, at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. His time in the military was a source of great pride and reflected his lifelong dedication to service.

On July 13, 1954, Joseph married the love of his life, Mary DeLatte. Together, they built a strong and loving family and shared many years of devotion and partnership. Joseph worked for United States Steel, where he dedicated 35 years of hard work before retiring. He was also a faithful member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Forney, Texas, and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Mary DeLatte; his sons, Joseph DeLatte, Jr., Michael DeLatte, and Brent DeLatte; his brother, Franklin DeLatte; his brother, Elmo DeLatte; and his sisters, Jerry Mix, Betty Deville, Susie David, and Peggy Shows. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren who will continue to cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Anne DeLatte; his parents, John Leon DeLatte and Virginia DeLatte; his brothers, Douglas DeLatte and John Leon DeLatte, Jr.; his sister, Mary Louise Swanson; and his sister, Doris LeBlanc.

A service honoring Joseph's life will be held at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church at 10:00am on April 28th, 2026, followed by a private interment at DFW National Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered in recognition of his service to our country.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Knights of Columbus, Council 13133, District 107, Assembly 3786, Forney, Texas.

Joseph will be remembered for his strength, faith, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy will live on in all who knew and loved him.
