John R. Bowman
May 16, 1973 - March 4, 2025
John Richard Bowman, born on May 16, 1973, passed away on March 4, 2025 at the age of 51. John was born in Salina, Kansas. He graduated from Salina South High School and the University of Kansas Engineering School. John went on to become a Chemical Engineer, working at Jacobs/Worley in Lenexa, KS; Golden, CO; Leiden, Netherlands; and Baton Rouge, LA over a 25-year career. Outside of work, John enjoyed golf, music, Kansas Jayhawk basketball, LSU football, Liverpool FC, grilling, and entertaining friends. Even as a native Kansan, John embraced Louisiana's Jazz Fest, Cajun food, crawfish boils, LSU tailgating, carnivals and Mardi Gras parades. He was a great dad, attending countless soccer matches, hosting and feeding friends, and encouraging their education. John is survived by his parents Linda Bowman and Philip Bowman of Salina, KS; daughter Natalie and sons Andrew and Jack of Baton Rouge, LA; and brother Aaron (Deb) Bowman of Olathe, KS. Visitation will take place at 12:30pm on Friday March 14 at Resthaven Funeral Home with services at 2:30pm and burial following at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Special thanks to the staff at Pinnacle Home Health, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, and the NeuroMedical Center. Donations may be made to Cancer Services of Baton Rouge. Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Orders placed in:
January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
