Baton Rouge, LA - Jeannette Marie Villarrubia passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving Family. Jeannette was born on April 4, 1942, in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she resided until Hurricane Katrina, 2005, relocated her to Baton Rouge, LA. She loved her new home and quickly adapted to new friends and her neighborhood. She enjoyed gardening, decorating, and discovering what Baton Rouge had to offer. Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, Freda Fabre and Wilfrid J. Villarrubia, whom she loved dearly, her brother, Wilfrid A. Villarrubia, and brother in law, Joseph J. Lafranca, Jr. She is survived by her loving sister, Ninette Villarrubia Lafranca, sister in law, Eleonore D. Villarrubia, 9 devoted nieces and nephews, 21 great nieces and nephews, and 11 great great nieces and nephews, and another on the way, all to cherish her memory. Jeannette graduated from St James Major elementary, St Mary's Dominican High School (summa cum laude), and Loyola University (summa cum laude), receiving a B.B.A. Degree from Loyola University. Jeannette taught secretarial courses at Loyola for 7 years. She then moved to the business sector working at Bell South and retiring in 1988 after 22 years of service. Following retirement, Jeannette served as coordinator for 10 years for the "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk" sponsored by the American Cancer Society. The Family is grateful for Jeannette's two nieces, Dr. Ann Lafranca Handy and Kathryn Lafranca Rao, who living close by, offered much immediate loving care and assistance, and for her nephew, Steven Villarrubia, who visited and transported her frequently. Family and Friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services to be held at Jacob Schoen & Son, on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 12 noon with Visitation at 1030 A.M. until the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment at St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Prayers and Masses welcome.
