Baton Rouge, LA - Janeth (Jan) Berryhill Etheridge

March 13, 1941 - April 19, 2025

Janeth "Jan" Berryhill Etheridge, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted educator, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, at the age of 84. Born in Centreville, Mississippi, Jan later made her home in Denham Springs, Louisiana, where she touched countless lives through her warmth, faith, and unwavering love of teaching.

Jan's passion for education spanned over 40 years, and she spent the last of her career at Northside Elementary, where she retired. It brought her great joy and pride that not only some of her grandchildren attended the same school, but now some of her great-grandchildren are walking the same halls where she once taught. Her grandson's wife, Ashley, also teaches in her classroom she held for so long.

She is survived by her true love, Harold Etheridge; her children Cathy Fraley, Charles "Chuck" Etheridge, Randa Etheridge (Patrick Hughes), and Jamie (Becky) Etheridge; grandchildren Chantelle Kenny, Anthony (Lauren) Etheridge, Samantha (Bradley) Porter, Cody Tanner, Hunter (Ashley) Etheridge, and Katy (Kaleb) Slayton; and great-grandchildren Alisha Kenny, Maddie Tanner, Brantley Porter, Averie Kenny, Zaaden Fitzgerald, Roman Etheridge, Ada Grace Etheridge, Naomi Etheridge, Sawyer Porter, Daniel Etheridge, and Axel Slayton.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Inez Hays Berryhill; her siblings Emerson Berryhill, Prentice Berryhill Vine, and Mary Helen Berryhill Bruton; and her daughter-in-law, Patty Etheridge.

Jan loved the Lord deeply and never missed an opportunity to share her testimony. Her faith was a gift she gave freely to others. Her kindness will remain a source of inspiration for all who knew her.

A celebration of her life will be held at Grace Covenant Church in Denham Springs at a later date to be announced.
