Pride, Louisiana - Our beloved Janaki Rao was truly an angel on earth. She was lovely and kind and had a very beautiful heart. Jana was born in London, England on June 12, 1937, to her parents Leontine (Boo) Weimer and Dr. Mugar Ranga Rao Suba Rao, and passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus Christ and her parents on June 29, 2026. They lived in India for the first 10 years of her life and, after the untimely death of her father, Jana and her mother returned to the United States and lived in Baton Rouge where she became the delight of her mother's large family. She was also fortunate to have the love of her stepfather, Q. A. Hester, who made sure that Jana was loved and well educated. She graduated from LSU and became a devoted schoolteacher for many years.

From her mother, grandfather, and aunts and uncles, Jana learned that the love of family is the most important gift that a person can have. God was good to Jana and, through his divine intervention and the help of her cousin Jodi Sanders Rollins, she was reunited with her brother Ramu, who lived in India, in the twilight of both of their lives. It was a time of great joy for Jana to have the opportunity to also meet her brother's daughter, Vidya and her husband and their children, Anita and Sarika, and to know that she had their love. She was so proud to know that her brother and his family had happy and successful lives and that they knew that she was part of their family.

Jana is survived by so many who love her, it is impossible to name us all. Those of us who knew and loved her, have benefited greatly by her presence in our lives and we are grateful.

She is preceded in death by her mother, father and stepfather and her brother, Ramu Rao, her grandfather George Weimer, Sr., her Uncles George Weimer, Lowell Weimer, Cliff Weimer, B.M. Dixon, Sr. and Irvin Head and her Aunts Verda Weimer, Lorna Weimer, Mrs. Irvin (Winnie) Head and Mrs. B.M. (Fadra) Dixon, her cousins B.M. Dixon, Jr., Kirk Comeaux, Cindee Parsons, Charlie Dixon, Al Sanders, and a large extended family who welcomed her into heaven with open arms.

Her family would like to thank Carrie McBride who took excellent care of Jana for many years.

Visiting will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, 9am to 11am with funeral services at 11am. Pallbearers will be Curtis Dixon, Jr., Barrett Dixon, Braden Dixon, Billie Dixon III, Tom Weimer, Dan Weimer, Nick Weimer, and Kyle Mautner. Honorary Pall bearers will be James Dixon, Brad Dixon, Curt Dixon, Sam Dixon, Clifford Weimer, Greg Weimer, Dean Weimer and Samuel Jowers. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery, 4045 North Street, next to her beloved mother and stepfather. Thank you, Jana, for all the things you did for all of us. You will never be forgotten and will always be loved.
