Catonsville, Maryland - On July 9, 2026, James "Jim" Thomas St. Amant passed away peacefully at his home in Catonsville, Maryland, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on January 15, 1956 in

Baton Rouge, Louisiana to the late Dr. Alvin F. St. Amant and Nancy Webb St. Amant. He spent the first three decades of his life in Baton Rouge, where he resided with his family. In 1995, Jim relocated to Baltimore, where he met the love of his life, Kathy Durm. They married in 2000 and spent the next 26 years devoted to one another.

Jim was a gentle and compassionate person, always extending a kind word to everyone he encountered. His family meant everything to him. Although he was faced with many of life's

adversities, he handled them with courage and grace. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy and Alvin St. Amant, and his brothers, Alvin Francis St. Amant Jr. and Guy Stanhope St. Amant. Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy Durm St. Amant, stepchildren Christopher Durm and

Barry Durm Jr. (Lindsey), and step-grandsons Andrew, Alexander, and William, who affectionately called him "Jim Pop". Also, his siblings Anna St. Amant Wilkinson, Julie St. Amant, John St. Amant, Marianne St. Amant, Marshall St. Amant (Gabriella), Susan St. Amant Baumler (Bill), and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial mass will be held Friday, August 14th at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave, Baton Rouge.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
