Baton Rouge, LA - Irma Lee Stevenson Brown, 84, of Baton Rouge, LA passed away peacefully after a serious illness on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones. Affectionately known to many as "Weezie" she was the cornerstone of her family.

A native of Jackson, LA, she was the fifth of eleven children born on April 19, 1942, to the late Eugene and Beatrice Stevenson.

She graduated from Clinton High School of Clinton, LA and was married for 40 years to the love of her life, the late George S. Brown. A dedicated health care worker, Irma was employed by Lane Memorial Hospital of Zachary, LA as a nurse's assistant for 32 years.

She is survived by two children, a son, Andrew Brown and a daughter, Vivian Brown; seven grandchildren, Johnny Young, Andre Brown, Brittany Varmall, Courtney Collins, Andrea Brown, Adrian Brown, and Aliah Brown; eight great grandchildren, Sherman Young, Jr., Ja'Nya Young, Britain Paul, Nila Brown, Mila Brown, Aubree Stoneham, Mackenzie Stoneham and Demarcas Cole; two brothers, Willie (Corlette) Stevenson, and Lloyd Stevenson; four sisters Ruby (Samuel) Mitchell, Eugene Marie Turner, Verla Foster, and Lois Holden; one aunt, Helen B Smith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Connie Brown, a grandson, Sherman Young, Sr., her parents, a brother, Andrew Stevenson, and three sisters, Ida Mae Williams, Helen Tapps, and Eula Beatrice Stevenson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 11:00am until the funeral service at 1:00pm, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 1692 Highway 68, Jackson, LA 70748. Burial will immediately follow at Southern Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Demby & Son Funeral Home, 900 Magnolia St., Donaldsonville, LA.
