Gonzales, LA - Ms. Hilda Gregoire Wood (89), a lifelong Louisiana resident and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

Born on March 10, 1937, in Carville, LA, Hilda made her home in Gonzales, LA, where she was known for her kind heart, love of family, and appreciation for life's simple pleasures. She found great joy in gardening, spending time shopping, and, above all, making memories with her beloved grandchildren and growing family.

She is survived by her loving children, Laura Elisar (Wayne), Pam Andermann (Fran), Debra Braud, and Ronnie Wood (Christine); sister, Agnes G. Bercegeay; 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom will cherish her memory and the love she shared throughout her life.

Hilda was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Raymond Wood; parents, Adam John Gregoire and Lillian Dill Gregoire; brothers, Ned Rodriguez, Adam "Coke" Gregoire, Peter "Blackie" Gregoire, William Gregoire, Roger Gregoire, and Louis "Sonny" Gregoire; sisters, Lillian Whitehead, Louise Duck, and Nora Gregoire; and son-in-law, Wallace Braud.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Gonzales, Louisiana. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place afterward at Hope Haven in Prairieville, Louisiana.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to The Parc and Southern Grace Hospice for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided to Hilda and her family during her final days.

Hilda's legacy lives on through the family she loved so deeply. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her love of gardening, and the joy she found in every visit, every shopping trip, and every moment spent with those she held dear. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
