My late husband, Bob Evans, and I met Harvey almost thirty years ago when we were establishing Lagniappe Studies Unlimited, the learning-in-retirement program. It was a pleasure to work with Harvey and to become friends with him and Betty. We enjoyed many BRSO concerts and listened to LSU games at their home (where Betty entertained us with a cheer-leading moment after a touchdown). They were a lovely couple and contributed so much to our community. Harvey will be missed, but I wish Betty and the family joy in a life well-lived.

I had the privilege of meeting Harvey about 15 years ago when were both investors in an enterprise. Harvey and I made a good connection. One could not help liking Harvey. He would call me on the phone every so often to inquire on the status of our investments. I enjoyed those conversations that sometimes also included Mrs. Betty in the background, listening and perhaps offering an occasional comment. Harvey would call me every Christmas, always wishing me and my wife, María, a “Merry One”. What a fine gentleman Harvey was! Always very respectful, measured in his speech, and kind and sincere in his conversations. I did my best to always return his kindness that so touched my heart. There... were times in our conversations when Harvey spoke of his health and ailments, always in a selfless tone and perhaps a bit of humor mixed in. Harvey is now at peace with God, resting by His side. Yes, he will no doubt be missed by many, myself on that list. I will miss Harvey’s phone calls. I wonder if there are telephones in Heaven; if there are, I look forward to the day when I join Harvey in Heaven, where I will anxiously wait for my telephone to ring and hear his sweet and friendly voice. I extend my most sincere condolences to Betty and her three sons and join in their memories of our dear Harvey.

Harvey was one of the kindest, most carring, and most generous person that I have ever known. He was a man of extraordinary brilliance, gifted with many tallents, who loved his community, and did marvelous things for numerous organizations and foundations in his state of Louisiana, and his town of Baton Rouge. Harvey, it was an honor to be your friend, and know, that you will be missed by many, but not forgotten. May you Rest in the Peace of the Lord, my friend. Gayle and I send our most Heartfelt Condolences to Betty, Alan, Glen, Michael, and to all of his family, and loved one. Bill and Gayle Koren 🙏💔🙏

Our beloved Harvey is gone but not his memory or the countless things he did to make Baton Rouge, his family, LSU, The Baton Rouge Symphony and his many friends richer for knowing him. Love to Betty, the family and his wonderful caretakers. I will miss you my friend.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
