Zachary, LA - Harold Bond Babin, age 90, of Zachary, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026. Harold was born on August 7, 1935, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In his early years, he attended elementary school in Clinton, Louisiana. His family later moved to Baton Rouge, where Harold attended Baton Rouge Junior High School, Baton Rouge High School, and Louisiana State University. He completed the Ministerial Course of Study of The United Methodist Church and was ordained a deacon in 1971. Beginning in 1963, Harold served as a local pastor in The United Methodist Church, ministering to the congregations of Angie, Varnado, Day's Center, Darlington, Bluff Creek, Slaughter, Corbin, Wilson Community Church, Tunica, and St. Francisville. He served St. Francisville United Methodist Church from 1972 until his retirement in 2005. Harold began working in the Road Design Section of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development in July 1956. At the time of his retirement in 1986, he was a Senior Road Design Squad Leader. Harold is survived by the former Patricia Pope of Zachary, Louisiana, his wife of 70 years. They lived in Zachary beginning in 1958 and in St. Francisville from 1986 to 2005. He is also survived by his five children and their spouses: Brenda Babin Triche (Glenn), Cliff Babin (Johnnie), Linda Babin Stovall (Greg), Jimmy Babin (Marlene), and Bobby Babin (Janet). Harold is also survived by his 17 grandchildren: Dr. Jason Triche (Grant Lane), Brandie Triche, Justin Triche (Lacey), Brad Thibodeaux, Mikki Helm, Ben Morgan, Greyson Stovall, Emery Stovall, Brittney Nichols (Dustin), Brooke Hafliger (Adam), Derek Babin (Caitlin), Stephen Babin (Anna Grace), Rebekah Babin, Katie Babin, Bond Babin (Rebecca), Rachael Vince (Patrick), and Bryce Babin (Jensen); 32 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Hunter Babin (Joyce). He was preceded in death by his parents, V.V. and Essie Bond Babin, and his brothers, Clifford Babin (Sis) and Dr. Claude Babin (Barbara). Visitation will be held at Zachary United Methodist Church on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. The service will be conducted by the Reverend Austin Rinehart, Dr. Greg Davis, and the Reverend Chris Andrews. Burial will follow at Azalea Rest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons with honorary pallbearers being Dr. Kemp Amacker, Ted Landaiche, Joe Kelley, and the Reverend Mike Clark.
