Baton Rouge, LA - Gwynne C. "Honey" Wales passed away April 15, 2025. Born in Roanoke, Virginia June 30, 1939. Gwynne later moved to Glen Burnie, Maryland where she graduated from Glen Burnie High School. Gwynne's journey to Baton Rouge began after being accepted to nursing school at Mather School of Nursing in New Orleans, LA. Just before leaving Glen Burnie for nursing school, she met her soon to be husband at her home church in Glen Burnie, MD where Bob had a temporary assignment as a JROTC instructor for the U.S. Army. After Bob's tour with the Army concluded, they were married. In fairly short fashion, four children were added to the mix. These children were blessed to be reared by a godly mom and dad. For the children's formative years, she was a stay at home mom and attended to their every need. Gwynne was a long time member of Istrouma Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served in many other leadership positions as well. She was well known for her "pound cake" ministry. IYKYK. She loved to travel and took many trips in her later years visiting relatives and just having wonderful times and creating great memories. Gwynne was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Marie Cannaday, husband Robert E. "Bob" Wales, and granddaughter Ainsley Edwards. She is survived by her children Bob (Karen) Wales, Suzie (Brandt)Edwards, Kaye (Cecil) Rushing, Laurie Wales, Eight grandchildren and Six great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the IMB (International Mission Board), Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area or Istrouma Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held at Istrouma Baptist Church Saturday, April 26, 2025. Visitation will begin at 8:30 am with the service following at 11:00 am.
