Mother Elma Claudia Rheams-Primas Obituary

Baker, LA - Mother Elma Claudia Rheams Primas was born on July 15, 1919, in Denham Springs, Louisiana. She entered into rest on June 11, 2025, at the age of 105, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and boundless love.

As the last surviving sibling of thirteen children, Elma's early life was shaped by the deep bonds of family and community. At 18, she made Baton Rouge her home, where she would reside for the next 87 years, becoming a beloved pillar of the city.

In 1937 she married Pastor Willie B. Primas, sharing 52 years of devotion until his passing. Together they raised twin daughters—Claudette Primas and Carla Primas McKnight.

A natural caregiver, Mother Primas operated an in‑home daycare for over 35 years, nurturing countless children with patience, warmth, and wisdom. Her home was more than a daycare—it was a haven of love where every child learned they were cherished.

For 42 years she served as First Lady of the Port Allen Church of God in Christ, standing alongside her husband in ministry and outreach. A lifelong, active member of the Church of God in Christ, she answered God's call as an Evangelist‑Missionary and, in her later years, as a cherished Church Mother at Gordon‑Feltus‑Lazard Cathedral COGIC (Saintsville).

Mother Primas's heart was open to all. She lodged the homeless, fed the hungry, and cared for the destitute, living out the Scriptures in tangible acts of mercy. Known for her gentle spirit, thoughtful counsel, and unwavering patience, she embodied virtue, wisdom, and nobility in every season of life.

Though she has departed this earthly fellowship, her legacy of service and love endures-in her family: daughters, Claudette(Penny), Carla (Kenneth) McKnight; 5 grandchildren, Jacobi, Dareyon (Malissa) Jo'ell, Jashira, and Jarrod; 8 great- grandchildren, Jacobi, Jr., Ja'Nya, Jabria, Pryce, Angel, Jaleah, Emery, and Jamani; a host of other relatives and friends.
