Broussard, LA - Elizabeth Ber Pace Waggenspack, affectionately known as Betty, passed away peacefully at 11:00 PM on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Hospice of Acadiana's Calcutta House in Lafayette, surrounded in love by her family.


Betty was born in Houma on August 27, 1938, the third of five children born to the union of Warren and Margery Ber. When she was very young her family moved to New Iberia where she attended and graduated from Mount Carmel Academy. She was blessed with four children, Tappi, Tina, Chip, and Lisa. Later in life, Betty furthered her education, earning her Bachelor's Degree from Louisiana State University. One of her greatest joys in life was her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and gardener who also enjoyed traveling.


Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her four children, Patricia Pace "Tappi" Waggenspack, Tina Marie Pace, Jackson Allen "Chip" Pace Jr. and his wife Olga, and Elizabeth Pace "Lisa" Nugent and her husband Steve; her six grandchildren who lovingly called her BB, Emily Waggenspack (Dan) Vizzard, Adam (Aubrey) Waggenspack, Kathryn Waggenspack, Leigh Anne Nugent (Matthew) LaFleur, David (Makenzie) Nugent, and Anna Marie Pace; her brother, Warren C. (Frances) Ber; her sister, Mary Carol Ber (Tommy) LeBlanc; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.


She was preceded in death by parents, Warren Isidore Ber and Margery LaFleur Ber; her siblings, Barbara Ber Hebert and John Edward "Johnny" Ber; her husband Louis Laville Waggenspack; and her former husband and father of her children, Jackson Allen Pace.


Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Centerville during a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Father Joel Faulk will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services.


Visiting hours will be held Friday at the church beginning at 10:00 AM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 11:00 AM concluding with the Mass at 1:00 PM.


The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staffs of Camelot of Broussard Assisted Living and Hospice of Acadiana Calcutta House for the exceptional care given to Betty in her time of need.


In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Lafayette, LA 70503.
