Atlanta, Georgia - Derrick Edward Barnes, 63, of Stone Mountain, GA, entered into eternal rest at

Piedmont Eastside Medical Center on February 8, 2026. Derrick was born July 2, 1962, to Edna Smith and DeLouis Barnes in Detroit, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Cornelia Frazier of Kansas City, MO. His three sons survive him: Derrick of Stone Mountain, GA., Daniel of Spring, TX., Devin of Baton Rouge, LA.; their mother Karen Hamilton Barnes; his three grandchildren, Aris, Layla, and Austin; his seven siblings: Carolyn (Lee) Miles of Ypsilanti, MI., Gregory Barnes of Georgetown, GA., Sandra Williams of Detroit, MI., Lisa (Richard) Burbank of Shreveport, LA., Albert "Boo" (Shawniqua) Roberson of Nashville, TN., Yolanda Campbell of Detroit, MI., Denise Barnes of Detroit, MI.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Derrick graduated from Van Horn High School in 1980 and served in the US Army. He obtained an associate's degree in computer technology from ITI Technical College after his military service. He worked as a computer systems engineer for 30+ years at various companies. Derrick was passionate about family and music. He enjoyed listening to jazz, attending concerts, playing his bass guitar, and grilling on the weekends.

Derrick will be missed dearly, and his legacy will live on in our hearts forever.
