Ethel, LA - Dakota Cheyenne Havard, "Cody", a resident of Ethel, died in an automobile accident on Monday, Aug. 3, 2026. He was 33 years old and was a nuclear mechanical engineer with River Bend Nuclear Station. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home in Zachary on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026, from 4pm until 8pm. Visitation continues on Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, from 9am until service at 11am. Burial will be in Second Baptist Church Cemetery, Jackson. He is survived by his parents, Cindy McCartney and Jerry Stevens and Glenis Havard and Jackie McLean. Siblings, Kirk Havard (Chloe), Corey Havard, Kaleigh Barksdale (Jacob) and Jessica Huggins (Mike). His fiancée, Danielle Moreau, nieces, Ryleigh and Rosalie Barksdale. His Forever Buddy, Blue. Numerous friends, loved ones and co-workers. Cody is preceded in death by his stepfather, Kelvin McCartney, grandparents, Joe and Judy Williams and Alvin and Sadie Havard and cousin, Cassie Smith.

Pallbearers will be Glenis Havard, Kirk Havard, Corey Havard, Taylor Whittington, Joey Horsley, Jacob Barksdale, Michael Spangler, Tommy Bellue and Justin Moreau. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Havard, Kenny Havard and Malcolm Finch. Cody was a 2011 graduate of Centreville Academy. He graduated from LSU in 2018 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and earned his MBA from LSU Shreveport in 2022. He was generous and kind. Cody was valued for his loyalty and had a good heart. He had a strong desire for knowledge and could fix anything. He was an avid outdoorsman and LSU fan. If you had a friend in Cody, you had a friend for life.
