Gonzales, LA - A native of Virginia and a resident of Louisiana since 1966, Ms. Rawls died June 16, 2025 and was affectionately known as Cy.

Beginning at a young age, Cy developed a love for painting and drawing and pursued her passion throughout her life. She was a respected artist who encouraged family and friends to express their creativity through art. Cy also enjoyed growing plants and flowers and could be found on any given Friday sitting at a card table with friends. She worked as a graphic artist at Exxon Baton Rouge Refinery and was sole proprietor of Industrial Graphics. Cy left Louisiana in 1988 to work for the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC. In 1996, she returned to Baton Rouge and was proprietor of Dirty Harry's Saloon on Wooddale Boulevard from 1996-1997. In 1998, she moved to Galvez and worked for the LSU Department of Geography & Anthropology until 2004. Cy was a long time member of the Baton Rouge League of Women Voters and the River Region Art Association where she spent much time volunteering and enjoying the company of other artists from the area. Cy is survived by daughter Beth Tarver Rawls Nettles, Port Allen, LA; son T-Charles Morgan Rawls and wife Ann, French Settlement, LA; grandchildren Andrew Nettles (Lindsey); Abigail Nettles; Alicia Rawls; great granddaughters Drew Blair Nettles and Murphy Camille Nettles; sister Jane Miller, Dallas, TX. Preceded in death by sisters Becky Wilson, New Orleans, LA; Evelyn Hughey, Bremo Bluff, VA; Margaret Brown, Bremo Bluff, VA; Mary Prokop, Arlington VA; brother Kenneth Minter, Richmond, VA; and long time friend Harry Reid. A celebration of life gathering will be held at Parc73, 14379 LA-73, Prairieville, LA 70769, Wednesday, July 2, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Baton Rouge Food Bank.
