Christie Theriot Woodfin Obituary
Atlanta, Georgia - Christie Theriot Woodfin, beloved mother, artist, counselor, and educational consultant, died March 24, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of 79 after a battle with malignant pleural mesothelioma.
A native New Orleanian, she was the daughter of Romeal Theriot and Irene Nunnery Theriot, a graduate of Isidore Newman School and Agnes Scott College, and someone whose love of New Orleans shaped her throughout her life. She kept a second home in Uptown, and the city's beauty, humor, and hospitality stayed with her wherever she lived.
Christie built an early career in the arts, creating illustrated stationery, leading art seminars, and painting large watercolor still lifes shown in one-woman exhibitions. Later, after earning a master's degree in counseling from the University of Houston, she founded Woodfin and Associates and spent 25 years helping families find schools and programs where children could thrive, especially neurodivergent and atypical learners.
For ten years, she was a proud member of the Krewe of Muses, creating glittering Mardi Gras shoes that became treasured keepsakes for those who caught them. She was also known for her wit, generosity, faith, and love of art, architecture, music, friendship, and spirited conversation.
Christie is survived by her children, Warren Theriot Woodfin and Elizabeth Cutler Woodfin, and by many relatives, friends, former clients, and loved ones. A memorial service will be held at St. Charles Ave. Presbyterian Church on April 8 and an Atlanta memorial service on April 18 at Trinity Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston or World Central Kitchen.
