Plaquemine, LA - Carol Jean Banta King, a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at Landmark of Plaquemine on Monday, April 20, 2026, at the age of 79. She was a resident and native of Plaquemine, LA. A memorial service will be held at Victory Baptist Church on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 2pm until 6pm. Carol is survived by her children, Jimmy King, Jr. and wife Tammy, Sandy King and fiancé Billy, Penny King and Angel Ruiz; grandchildren, Angel Junker, Travis King, Mark Giep, Jr. and wife Chanel, Christopher "Tate" Giep and wife Alexis, Austin Collins and Raiza, Brandon "Bubby" King, Meghan Blankenburg, and Harlee King; twelve great-grandchildren; siblings, Jesse Banta, III, Nancy Banta Miller and husband Alvin, and Gail Banta Seneca; godchild, Christy Banta; step-daughter, Veronica "Fannie Mae" Williams; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her children, Robin King Rivero and Troy Joseph King; parents, Jesse, Jr. and Elsie Hebert Banta; and sister, Betty Ann Landry. Carol loved making people laugh and was the life of the party. She will be missed by all who loved her, especially her extended family at Landmark.
