Baker, LA - Bessie Lee Stockton, 77 years old, beloved wife, daughter, and mother, was called to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She entered this world on December 5, 1947, born to Leona and James Ortis, in New Roads, LA. Bessie was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Baton Rouge where she faithfully served for over 25 years. She was a compassionate, loyal, and loving person who always counted others higher than herself. Bessie graduated from Morganza High School in 1967 and worked at the Gordon Theater in Baton Rouge as a concessionaire, where she met her loving husband of 55 years in 1969. They made their home in Baker, Louisiana since 1972. Bessie was a retail clerk in fabrics and crafts at Walmart since 1993. Bessie is survived by her loving husband, Glenn Stockton; a daughter, Karen Stockton Lee; a son, Kevin Stockton; grandchildren, RJ, Michael, Cheyanne, and Cannan; great-grandchildren, Grace Lee, Arya Lee, and Jace; and brother, Jay Henderson. Bessie is preceded in death by her father, James Benjamin Ortis; mother, Leona Ortis; and a sister, Francis "Cookie" Clark. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Fr. Drew Harmon.
