Barbara Firmin Bourgeois (Bobbie) Obituary

Slaughter, LA - Barbara "Bobbie" Firmin Bourgeois, October 11, 1945 – October 5, 2025, passed peacefully at her home in Slaughter surrounded by family and friends that she treasured dearly. She was a beautician of 50+ years, a career through which most of her "customers" became long lasting and valued friends. Twelve years of that time she also served her community of Slaughter as their first woman Mayor during which time she accomplished many things that made her family, friends, and community extremely proud. She was the epitome of strength and independence and possessed artistic and creative talent much too plentiful to list. She was a loving and loyal wife, a generous and dependable friend, the absolute best Mama to her children and an ever present and loved "Nana" to her grand and even great-grandchildren who were the apples of her eye. Although we are shattered by our loss, we are also rejoicing that she is now back in the arms of our dad where she belongs both healthy and whole again. She is survived by her sons, Shane Bourgeois (wife Sheilla) and TJ Booth (Not by Blood but by Love), daughter, Dawn B. Gulledge (husband Trey), Grandchildren: PJ, Trace (Katlyn), Logan (Hunter), Caleb, Cheyenne, Jesse, and great grandchildren: Wyatt, Liam, Everly, and Wylder. One sister, Joann F. Ilgenfritz, many brothers/Sisters in law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by her parents Jimmie Joseph and Dorothy Charrier Firmin of Slaughter. Her son Philip L. Bourgeois Jr., brothers, Roy Firmin, Ronald "Ronnie" Firmin and Jimmie Firmin. Sister Dorothy Firmin Doucet, nephew Jim Firmin and great nephew Ronnie Firmin. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church in Slaughter on Wednesday, October 8, from 9 am until services at 11, conducted by Rev. Basil Wicker. Burial at Eastern Star Cemetery in Wilson. The pallbearers will be PJ Bourgeois, Trace Bourgeois, Caleb Bourgeois, Jesse Gulledge, Roy Firmin and Wyatt Lawton. Honorary pallbearer TJ Boothe. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude's Research Hospital. Share sympathies, memories, and condolences at www.CharletFuneralHome.com.
