Baton Rouge, LA - Barbara Ann Sperry Bearden passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the age of 90. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Pi Beta Phi LA Beta Chapter, Junior League of Baton Rouge, Charity Ball Association, Baton Rouge Green. She was a fabulous cook, where she loved making meals for everyone in her home. She belonged to multiple supper clubs and book clubs. An avid reader, she was a supporter of the library. Barbara was an incredible seamstress and enjoyed flowers and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roby Bearden, Jr; her parents, James Lawrence and Isobel Sperry; and her sisters, Betty Jane Sperry and Imogene Miller. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Bearden Allman (Paul), Mary Lura Bearden, and John Sperry Bearden; grandchildren, Rachel Whitey Fennie (Adryan), John Beal Whitley III, Robert Bearden Whitley, Caroline Elizabeth Whitley, Lura Elizabeth Stabiler, Warren Seth Stabiler, Charles Roby Bearden; great-grandchildren, Grey Bearden Fennie and William Bennett Stabiler; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, 208 N 4th St, Baton Rouge, LA 70801, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Reverend Lynn Hooks. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be John Sperry Bearden, John Beal Whitley III, Robert Bearden Whitley, Warren Seth Stabiler, Charles Roby Bearden, Adryan Kentae Fennie, Paul Manatt Allman. The family would like to give special thanks to St. James Episcopal Church and clergy, the staff of St. James Place, The Hospice of Baton Rouge, all friends and family for their love and support.
