Baton Rouge, Louisiana - Catherine Annette Rhodes Seng died in her sleep on Thursday, June 18, 2026, while residing at St. James Place in Baton Rouge. She was born April 15, 1944, in Mobile, Alabama to William Arthur Rhodes, Sr. and Myrtle Boyd Rhodes. Shortly after the end of WW2 the family moved to Bogalusa, Louisiana.
She is survived by her son, Arthur James Seng of Baton Rouge and her brother, William A. Rhodes, Jr. of Proctor, Texas.
Annette graduated from Bogalusa High School in May 1962 and enrolled in LSU the following August. She continued at LSU until her junior year when she attended the University of Seven Seas campus afloat, a division of Chapman College in Orange, California. During this year she traveled around the globe studying on board the ship and when in port, all students traveled to various cities staying at local universities. After this year she returned to LSU and graduated. She later enrolled and graduated from the LSU School of Law after which she worked for many years in the Louisiana Attorney General Office as an Assistant Attorney General. before retiring in 2016
Annette expressed herself through painting, sewing, design and music. An accomplished pianist and singer she performed with the Gilbert & Sullivan Society, Baton Rouge Opera, and LSU Opera of Baton Rouge for many years
She was a world traveler
She cultivated life long friendships through travel and warm generosity
She gave of her time with many volunteer organizations, including fundraising for music and the arts with BRAVO, Opera Louisiane, Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, chaperoning the youth group at the University United Methodist church, and working with international students at the International Cultural Center on LSU campus.
Service will be held Sat., Aug. 29 at University United Methodist Church 3350 Dalrymple Dr, at 2pm.
