Baton Rouge, LA - In Loving Memory of Dr. Alvin Francis Decuir Sr., November 17, 1935 - July 23, 2026.

Dr. Alvin Francis Decuir Sr., 90, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, peacefully entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 23, 2026. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, educator, veteran, and man of unwavering faith, he dedicated his life to serving God, his family, his country, and his community.

Born on November 17, 1935, to the late Frank Decuir Sr. and Bernadette Ethel Decuir, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita Ann Decuir; his daughter, Jocelyn Fontenot Lange; and his siblings, Eula Mae Mathis Bertrand, Delores Hornsby, Frank Decuir Jr., Dallas Decuir, Carolyn Bassett, and Patricia Honoré.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary "Tee" Decuir; his brother, Ronald Decuir Sr.; his children, Jerome Fontenot (former wife, Philomena), Angela Jones (Pat), Reinette Gills (Terry), Rosalyn Honoré (Charles Jr.), Julie Decuir, Alvin Decuir Jr. (Pansy), Doyle Fontenot (Gina), Darlene Perry (Donte), Shawn Decuir (Marita), and Jennifer Decuir (Winston Jr.); 25 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Pinnacle Palliative Care and Hospice, Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, Dr. Mark Kantrow, and his team, and to Christy Aucoin and Camille Tate for their exceptional care and compassion.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated on August 4, 2026, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 9150 Highland Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70810. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Rosary at 10:30 a.m. The Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Louisiana National Cemetery, 303 West Mount Pleasant Road, Zachary, LA 70791.
